Organisers seek nominations for “The people behind The Fred”
NOMINATIONS OPEN for Saddleback Fred Whitton Challenge Golden Jerseys.
With less than four weeks to go until the 2,500 riders, lucky enough to secure a place through the hugely oversubscribed ballot, tackle the infamous Saddleback Fred Whitton Challenge, organisers are launching a special set of ten Golden Jerseys to honour riders, volunteers and local contributors.
Entering its 19th year, “The Fred” is renowned worldwide for its heartfelt support from spectators, volunteers and local businesses. This year, Human Race, Castelli and the Fred Whitton Challenge Steering Group are seeking nominations for “the people behind the Fred” who will be presented with a golden jersey. Examples of nominees could include someone who has taken part in every event, offered unwavering support, or raised a significant amount of money for charity through the event.
Nominations are open from today until 10am Monday 30 April. In order to nominate you must email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line Golden Jersey Nominee with no more than 200 words with the name of your nominee and a description of why they are worthy of a golden jersey. The recipients will be invited to a prize giving at The Prince of Wales, Foxfield, on the eve of the event.
The Golden Jerseys echo this year’s event jersey, but instead of the red detail, these special batch feature golden detail and trim, with the words “Outstanding Achievement” on the sleeve.
Paul Loftus, Chair of the Steering Group, says; “The Fred has become famous because of the incredible people who take part and help out, year on year, without fail. It is unlike any other sportive in the world for that very reason, and we are delighted to share this initiative to thank some of the unsung heroes of this legendary event.”
Don’t delay – make sure you get your nominations in before Monday 30 April!
