Win A Bike Worth £1,299
James Hodgson (Hodgy) has donated a brand new Boardman Road Pro Carbon bike, valued at £1,299 to St. Mary’s Hospice. The bike will be raffled and the proceeds will go to the Hospice Home Care team.
James entered and won the Cycling Plus competition to find Britain’s best cycle ride. The Lake District loop was suggested by James and Lindsay McCrae of the Broughton Wheelers cycling group with Lindsay submitting a picture looking from the top of Wrynose Pass down towards Cockley Beck.
It was chosen from a shortlist of five routes in a selection process organised by Halfords, Boardman Bikes, and Cycling Plus.
Routes were nominated via the magazine and social media networks.
Once the shortlist was decided, the routes were ridden and filmed by the magazine’s editorial team, with the footage posted on YouTube.
Votes were then cast on the magazine’s website, with the Lake District loop taking the top spot. Check out the video here.
The Broughton Wheelers decided to raffle the bike and raise as much money as possible to benefit the Hospice at Home Team at St Mary’s Hospice. St Mary’s provided vital palliative care for Alex Tyson in his last few weeks of life at his home. Alex’s wife Liz said, “It was Alex’s wish to be cared for at home. Had it not been for the Hospice at Home team this wouldn’t have been possible.”
James and The Broughton Wheelers intend to sell as many raffle tickets as possible to raise as much as possible for St Mary’s Hospice.”
The tickets are £1 and are available from St Mary’s Hospice and St Mary’s retail outlets. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone and paid for by credit/debit card however the minimum card payment is £5.
The draw will take place at St Mary’s Hospice on 31st May 2014. The winner can collect their prize from any Halfords store and the bike will be sized to the winner’s needs.
